JA.DTC 431

Condition





Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) GLA-431 is stored if the control module registers that the input signal from the tilt sensor control module is less than 1.5 V for 10 seconds when the alarm is activated.

Substitute Value
None.

Possible Source
Short-circuit to ground in signal cable.
Open-circuit in signal cable.

Fault Symptom(s)
When the ignition is switched on the LED flashes at 4 Hz for 15 seconds.
Tilt sensor alarm function missing.

Start fault-tracing with JB.


JB1. Checking Signal From Tilt Sensor





Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off tilt sensor status.
The value should be NODETEC.
Is the value NODETEC?
Yes: Go to JB5.
No: Go to JB2.

JB2. Checking Cables





Ignition off.
Expose 4-door tilt sensor according to replacing tilt sensor (4-door) and 5-door according to replacing tilt sensor (5-door).

Check cable between control module #A17 and tilt sensor #3 for a short-circuit to ground according to WWA3 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections

Remedy as necessary.
Were any faults found in the cable?
Yes: Go to JB4.
No: Go to JB3.


JB3. Replacing Component

Try a new tilt sensor according to(4-door) or (5-door).
Then continue with JB4.


JB4. Verification






Hint: After repairs have been completed they must be verified as follows to ensure that the fault has been eliminated.

Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off tilt sensor status.
The value should be NODETEC.
Is the value NODETEC?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found

JB5. Intermittent Fault





Check cable between control module #A17 and tilt sensor #3 for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to WWB3 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections Operation done.
