Park Neutral Position Switch

PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION FUNCTION
The gear-shift position sensor has a start inhibit function to prevent starting of the engine while a gear is selected.

This function prevents the engine being started unless the Neutral or Park positions are selected. This prevents the car from inadvertently lurching forwards when started.
