Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes
Fault Tracing Using The Volvo Scan ToolThe Scan Tool (ST) and memory cassette make it possible to communicate with the car's various control modules. By connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to the car's data link connector (DLC) diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be read off and cleared; components and functions can be activated; input and output signals can be read; functions reset etc, (depending on the functions included in the car's control modules).

Connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)
- Ignition off.
- Install memory cassette.
- Remove cover from data link connector (DLC).
- Connect Volvo Scan Tool (ST) with adaptor box and cabling to the data link connector (DLC) on the console in front of the gear shift.
- Switch ignition to position II.
- Turn on the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) with the switch on the adapter box.
- Select language, car, group of functions.
- Select system (for SRS select AIRBAG 6.2).
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

To read diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- To read diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) use the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) as instructed above.
- Select DIAGNOSTIC TEST from the function menu.
- Select READ DTC.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Frozen Values
Parameter values are only frozen for the first diagnostic trouble code (DTC) stored. The parameters are backup power, supply voltage and alternator voltage D+.
- To display frozen values press the "arrow down" key when reading the first diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
