Note!
^ On early version cars the anti-roll bar bushings and cap can be replaced. On late versions the anti-roll bar bushings and cap are vulcanized into the bar and are not replaceable.
^ The late version replaces the early version of the anti-roll bar.

Install the support rails 999 5033, mounting bracket 999 5006 and lifting hook 999 5460. Lift up the engine slightly


Note! The following section applies to right-hand drive cars only.
Remove the collision protection system over the steering gear (2 screws)











Remove:





- the splash guard under the engine (early type only)
- the five nuts holding the steering gear to the sub-frame.

Note! Only applies to right-hand drive cars. Remove collision protection system nut A.

Remove the oil pipe brackets screws from the sub-frame at the front and rear edges





Position a mobile jack at the rear edge of the sub-frame

Remove:
- on both sides, the four screws holding the sub-frame brackets to the bodywork
- the two screws together with the brackets and washers.

Slacken off the front sub-frame screws approximately 10 - 15 mm (0.39 - 0.59 inch). Lower the rear edge of the frame. Ensure that the steering gear screws are released from the frame

Note! Right-hand drive cars: Ensure that the collision protection system between the steering gear and the sub-frame does not press against the oil pipes.

Remove:





- the anti-roll bar from the control arms
- the anti-roll bar cap
- the anti-roll bar.





Note! Right-hand drive cars: Lift the anti-roll bar. Remove the collision protection system between the steering gear and the sub-frame. Remove anti-roll bar.





Note! When replacing the anti-roll bar on cars up to the following chassis numbers: 4-doors 2099893, 5-doors 2011547, carry out the paragraphs below.

Remove the EVAP canister hose clip. Disconnect the EVAP canister hose at the joint. Cut off a piece of protective hose, P/N 185507-1, approximately 480 mm (18.9 inch) long. Thread it over the canister hose and reconnect the joint.

Installation
Install:





- the anti-roll bar
- the cap. Tighten to 50 Nm (36.9 ft. lbs.)
- links to anti-roll bar. Tighten to 50 Nm (36.9 ft. lbs.)

Note! Right-hand drive cars: At the same time locate the collision protection system between the steering gear and the sub-frame.





Press up the rear edge of the sub- frame. Use a mobile jack
At the same time locate the steering gear mounting screws in the frame, and on right-hand drive cars, the collision protection screw.

Install sub-frame brackets
Install new subframe screws (Ml4) loosely. Transfer the mobile jack to the front edge of the frame. Replace the front frame screws. Do not tighten yet. First tighten the screws on the left side of the sub-frame to 105 Nm (77.44 ft. lbs.) and angle tighten 120�. Then tighten right-hand side to the same values as the left side. Tighten the bracket screws to 50 Nm (36.9 ft. lbs.).

Tighten:





- steering gear to 50 Nm (36.9 ft. lbs.). Use new nuts.
- the nut (A) for the collision protection system (right-hand drive cars) to 50 Nm (36.9 ft. lbs.)
- oil pipe brackets to front and rear edges of the sub-frame.

Note! The following section applies to left-hand drive cars only

Install the splashguard under engine (early version)
Install:

Note! The following section applies to right-hand drive cars only.





- the collision protection system over the steering gear (2 screws). Tighten to 80 Nm (59.0 ft. lbs.)
- splashguard under engine (earlier version)
