Sill trim panel, paint protection
Background
When touching up the door sill paint protective tape should be applied on the door sill in area's where the sill trim panel contacts the painted body This must be done before installing the sill trim panel.

Marking for the paint protection
Position the sill trim panel against the door sill in its installed position. Do not secure the sill trim panel.
Mark approximately 2 mm (5/64") above the door sill where the sill trim panel is positioned against the door sill using masking tape (see the shaded sections as illustrated).
Remove the sill trim panel.

Installing the paint protection at the A-post
Install paint protection tape P/N 9126160 on the door sill (A) at the A-post.
Position the paint protection tape below the masking tape so that the top edge is positioned against the masking tape.
Remove the masking tape.

Installing the paint protection tape at the B-post
Install the paint protection tape at the B-post using the same method as for the A-post.

Installing the paint protection tape at the C-post
Install the paint protection tape at the C-post using the same method as for the A-post.
Install the sill trim panel.
Check that tape is positioned in the places where the sill trim panel is positioned against the painted surface.
WARRANTY STATEMENT: Claims may be submitted under the New Car Warranty when there is a documented customer complaint using claim type 01.
