Background:

There is now a service solution for early model cars to satisfy customer complaints about squeaking from the rear windshield. Therefore the rear windshield does not need to be replaced in the event of customer complaint.

An alteration to the rear windshield encapsulation has been introduced into production from and including the following chassis numbers which eliminates squeaking.

Application of anti-squeak agent

Anti-squeak agent should be applied between the windshield encapsulation and bodywork at the windshield right, left and top, see illustration.

Method:

- Bend out the rear windshield encapsulation at the upper corner between the rear windshield and bodywork using a weatherstrip tool.

- Insert the anti-squeak agent tube behind the weatherstrip tool.

- Pull the weatherstrip tool down towards the lower corner of the windshield, following it with the tube and squeezing out the agent.

- Continue with rear windshield other sides. Hands must be washed thoroughly after applying anti-squeak agent.
