Signal Too High. Intermittent Fault

SIGNAL TOO HIGH. INTERMITTENT FAULT

Checking Cables and Terminals

WARNING! Before fault-tracing disconnect Engine Cooling Fan (FC) relay connector A so that the engine cooling fan (FC) will not run. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) EFI-514 engine cooling fan (FC) low-speed, signal may be stored. After fault-tracing the connector must be reconnected.

- Check Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor and Engine Control Module (ECM) connectors for a loose connection, contact resistance and oxidation.
- Check cable between engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor terminal 1 and engine control module (ECM) #A31 for an intermittent open-circuit and an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage.
- Check cable between engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor terminal 2 and control module #A18 for an intermittent open-circuit.

Then continue with test step below.

Fault-Tracing Information

- For intermittent faults fault-tracing is not followed by a verification because the fault is not present at this moment.
- Do you want to repeat fault-tracing?

Yes:
- Return to Checking Cables and Terminals section above.

No:
- Operation done.
