Output Shaft: Service and Repair

NOTE: To remove drive shaft, refer to Replacing Bevel Gear Service and Repair

NOTE: Special tools: 999 5010, 999 5069, 999 5654, 999 5656, 999 5657





Removing coupling sleeve
- Remove circlip In coupling sleeve. Remove sleeve Use drift 999 5656 and puller 999 5089.

NOTE: Ensure that the puller arms engage correctly in the groove in the sleeve.





Removing coupling sleeve sealing ring
- Remove sealing ring from transmission.
- Use extractor 999 5069 and drift 999 5656.





Removing Drive Shaft Sealing Ring
- Remove drive shaft sealing ring and coupling sleeve O-ring.
- Use a screwdriver.





Installing O-ring and sealing ring
- Install a new coupling sleeve O-ring on the differential housing.
- Install a new drive shaft sealing ring Lubricate seal with wheel bearing grease, P/N 1161241-3.
- Use drift 999 5654.





Installing Sealing Ring
- Install coupling sleeve sealing ring.
- Lubricate seal with wheel bearing grease, P/N 1161241-3.
- Use drift 999 5657.
- Tap in seal until drift bottoms on its stop against transmission.





Installing Circlip And Sleeve

Install:
- circlip in sleeve
- sleeve in transmission with the long splined section (2) toward the transmission. Use a rubber mallet to knock in the sleeve.
