CONDITION
The Throttle Position (TP) sensor signal comes from the throttle position sensor on the Throttle Body (TB) via the Engine Control Module (ECM). This signal indicates to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) how far the throttle has opened. The TCM uses the signal to control functions such as gearshifting and system pressure. The signal normally varies between approx. 0.5 and approx. 4.2 V. Opening the throttle increases the signal voltage. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) AT-213 is posted if the TCM registers a signal above 5.2 V for approx. 10 seconds.

SUBSTITUTE VALUE
The TCM "Emergency mode 1" program has been initiated.

POSSIBLE SOURCE
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
- Fault in throttle position sensor circuit.

FAULT SYMPTOM(S)
- The combined instrument panel warning lamp flashes.
- No lock-up function.
- No adaption of the gear slippage times at high altitude (High Altitude Compensation)
- Gear-shifting can change - irregular shifting.

NOTE: The Motronic 4.4 ECM posts a DTC when the transmission sends a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) request. Erase this DTC in the Motronic ECM when the fault in
