KK. Checking Central Locking Motor, Tailgate (5-Door)
KKA. Fault Tracing
Condition
No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.
Possible Source
Open-circuit in control cables to central locking motor.
Faulty central locking motor.
Start fault-tracing with KKB.
KKB1. Activating Lock Motor
Ignition on.
Close the tailgate.
Use the Activation function to activate the central locking motors.
The tailgate should now lock.
Is this function OK?
Yes: Fault not found
No: Go to KKB2.
KKB2. Checking Connectors
Expose tailgate lock unit.
Check VGLA control module connector and tailgate lock unit connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to WWA5 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections
Ignition on.
Use the Activation function to activate the central locking motor
The tailgate should now lock.
If the tailgate locks the cause of the fault has been loose connections in the connectors.
Is this function OK?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Go to KKB3.
KKB3. Checking Cables
Check cable between VGLA control module #A14 and tailgate lock unit connector terminal 6 and cable between VGLA control module #B11 and tailgate lock unit connector terminal 7 and ground for an open-circuit according to WWA2 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections
Were any faults found in the cables?
Yes: Go to KKB5.
No: GO to KKB4.
KKB4. Replacing Component
Replace lock unit in tailgate.
Then continue with KKB5.
KKB5. Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.
Ignition off.
Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Ignition on.
Close the tailgate.
Use the Activation function to activate the central locking motor
The tailgate should now lock.
Is this function OK?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
