MM. Checking Signal From Hood Switch
MMA. Fault Tracing
Condition
No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.
Possible Source
Short-circuit to ground in hood switch signal cable.
Faulty hood switch.
Start fault-tracing with MMB.
MMB1. Checking Signal From Hood Switch
Ignition on.
Hood open.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off the hood switch status.
The value should be HIGH when the hood is open.
Is the value HIGH?
Yes: Fault not found
No: Go to MMB2.
MMB2. Checking For A Short-Circuit To Ground
Check cable between VGLA control module #A3 and hood switch terminal 1 for a short-circuit to ground according to WWA3 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections
Were any faults found in the cable?
Yes: Go to MMB4.
No: Go to MMB3.
MMB3. Replacing Component
Replace hood switch according to service and repair procedure. Then continue with MMB4.
MMB4. Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.
Ignition off.
Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Ignition on.
Hood open.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off the hood switch status.
The value should be HIGH when the hood is open.
Is the value HIGH?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
