Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

1. Cars without turbocharged engines
- Preparation:
Ignition OFF
- Remove:
Preheating hose between the manifold and the Air Cleaner (ACL).





2. Cars with turbocharged engines
- Preparation:
Ignition OFF
- Remove:
Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor connector
Hose between ACL and Turbocharger (TC) unit





3. Separate the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) connector
- Remove:
- Nut to the cable conduit/bracket.
Unhook the parts.
- Clean thoroughly round sensor.
- Sensor screw and remove sensor.





4. Install new sensor with new O-ring.
- Oil the O-ring.
- Install sensor.
Tighten to: 5.5 Nm.
- Install:
Bracket and cable conduit
Tighten to: 5.5 Nm.
Connector.
5. Cars without turbocharged engines
- Install:
Preheating hose between the manifold and the ACL.





6. Cars with turbocharged engines
- Install:
Air pipe between TC and air cleaner ACL.
Make sure that all the connections are in place.

7. Checking Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- Check that DTCs have been erased.
