OO. Checking Starter Relay




OOA. Fault Tracing

Condition
No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.


Possible Source
Open-circuit in signal cable to starter relay.
Defective VGLA control module.

Start fault-tracing with OOB.


OOB1. Checking Signal





Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off starter relay status.
The value should be ON when the ignition is on.
If reading is OK: Go to OOB2.
If reading is incorrect: Go to OOB3.

OOB2. Checking Cables





Check cable between VGLA control module #B21 and starter relay terminal 4 for an open-circuit according to WWA2 WW. Checking Wiring and Connections

Were any faults found in the cables?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found


OOB3. Replacing Component

Try a new VGLA control module according replacing main control module. Then continue, fault corrected.


OOB4. Verification






Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.

Ignition off.
Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Turn the starter motor.
Is the starter motor activated?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
