Replacing the fuel tank

Models:
1993-1999
850/S70/V70

Background

A new fuel tank with integrated roll-over valve has been introduced into production. However, on cars with emission codes 3,4, the integrated roll-over valve is replaced with a mock-up (dummy) valve.

Note! To maintain the function of the fuel tank pressure sensor on cars with emission codes 3,4, the roll-over valve positioned on the new tanks is replaced with a mock-up (dummy) valve on the replacement tanks and the existing roll-over valve should be used.

This Service Bulletin is an addition to method: Replacing the fuel tank in VADIS.

METHOD A

Installation:

Start with removing the fuel tank according to VADIS.

See:

Removing, replacing and installing, 23 Fuel injection system, Replacing the fuel tank

Verification:

Note Method A is only applicable to vehicles with emission codes 3,4.

Ensure that the rollover dummy valve on the tank (P/N 8631058-8), reads "none function".

Modifying pipe from "dummy valve":

Cut the pipe on the new tank a little past the bend, where it is straight. See the illustration.

Install hoses:

Install the three joined hoses, P/N: 9480050 to the fittings. Secure the hoses clamps.

The narrower hose is for fuel tank pressure sensor. The other two hoses are for the rollover dummy valve, and the pipe at the fuel filler neck.

Installing fuel tank:

Install the fuel tank according to VADIS. See:

Removing, replacing and installing, 23 Fuel injection system, Replacing the fuel tank.

Start engine to ensure operation and check for DTC's.

METHOD B
