Volvo Cars of North America, Inc. and Volvo Cars Of Canada Ltd. have announced a service campaign affecting certain 1998 70 series sedans, wagons and coupes. Approximately 122,660 vehicles in the U.S. and 13,913 vehicles in Canada are affected.

The passenger side airbag systems may be insufficiently grounded, resulting in a possible inadvertent deployment. In all vehicles affected by this recall, an additional ground wire will be installed on the passenger-side front airbag system.

An initial allocation representing 50 % of the vehicles retailed or in stock at your retail facility will begin arriving on or about the week of September 13. 1999. After this one time allocation, you may order additional quantities using normal ordering procedures.

A mandatory allocation of quantity: one, Grounding Cable, tool P/N 951 1522 was sent to all retailers by SPX/Kent-Moore during August, 1999.
