ABS-144

E. ABS-144 Brake pads, front wheel

EA. DTC information

Condition

In cars with TRACS the control module registers how much the brakes are used and calculates the temperature of the front wheel brake discs. DTC ABS-144 is posted if the estimated temperature exceeds 450° C.

Substitute value

- The TRACS warning light comes on and TRACS cuts out when the code is posted. The warning light goes off and TRACS returns to normal when the estimated temperature falls below 350° C.
- ABS and EBD are available continuously.

Possible source

The brakes have been used so much that the brake disc temperature is too high.

Fault symptom(s)

TRACS will cut out until the brake disc temperature falls below 350° C.

Fault-tracing begins with EB. High temperature.

EB. High temperature

- Check for overheating damage to the brake calipers, brake linings and brake discs. Replace the damaged part.
