Trouble Code Conditions

4-3-3 REAR KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL





Condition

If engine coolant temperature exceeds +40°C (104°F), engine speed exceeds 2,500 rpm, load exceeds 3.0 ms and the signal from the Knock Sensor (KS) is missing for 6 seconds the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored for that knock sensor (KS).

Substitute Value

- Knock control is disabled
- Ignition advance reduced for safety reasons.
- Initial boost pressure adopted.

Possible Source

- Short-circuit to ground in signal cable.
- Open-circuit in signal cable or ground lead.
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Defective knock sensor (KS).

Fault Symptom(s)

- Poor performance due to retarded ignition
- Poorer performance due to boost pressure.
