Replacing The Antenna Rod
Removal
Removing the nut
- Remove the nut on the upper section of the antenna.
Removing the sleeve
- Remove the sleeve from the antenna tube.
Removing the antenna rod and gear sector
- Turn the radio to ON.
- After the radio has been switched ON, start the motor for the antenna. The motor slides the antenna rod out with the gear sector. If the antenna rod is damaged the motor may need assistance sliding the antenna rod with the gear sector out. Use pliers for example. Remove the antenna.
NOTE: The antenna motor runs for approximately 25 seconds and the mechanism remains in the up position. If possible leave the radio ON.
Installation
Installing the antenna rod and gear sector
- Slide in the gear sector. The gear sector may encounter an obstruction inside the antenna tube, approximately 5-10 cm from the bottom. Slide the gear sector back and turn the gear sector so that it can slide past the obstruction and to the bottom. Turn the gear sector so that the gears point backwards. Turn the gear sector. Feel if the gear sector has reached the bottom.
- Ask a colleague to switch the radio OFF. The antenna motor starts. Feed in the gear sector with the antenna rod.
Installing the sleeve
- Install the sleeve.
NOTE: Clean and check the sleeve according to Service Bulletin 3-39-805, Cleaning, checking and adjustment.
Installing the nut
- Install the nut.
Check
- Check the function.
