Steering and Suspension: Service and Repair
Many service and maintenance operations require specific torques when tightening screwed joints. For these to be correct the following applies:
- Clean all surfaces in the joint. First mechanically and then with a decreasing agent.
- Replace screws and nuts in torque-tightened joints if necessary.
NOTE: Always replace self-locking nuts with new ones. When reinstalling screws and nuts, clean and lubricate.
- Always replace screws or screws and nuts in protractor-tightened joints.
- Values are accurate to within ± 5%.
NOTE: 1 Nm = 0.1 kpm (=0.738 ft. lbs.).
