Receiver/Drier

Replacing receiver/drier

WARNING: Follow the appropriate safety precautions when working on the climate control system.

NOTE:
- Read the instructions about slow and large leaks.
- Always use new O-rings lubricated with air conditioning (A/C) compressor oil.
- Always plug pipes and connectors when working on the climate control system.

Preparations

- Disconnect the battery lead.
- Drain the refrigerant from the system.

Removal







Remove:
- The clamp holding the battery.
- The cable between the drier and the condenser and between the receiver drier and evaporator.
- .Seal the openings
- The pressure switch connector.
- Remove the two mounting nuts from the support.
- Remove the drier and the support.

Transfer the support to the new drier

- Mark the position of the support on the old drier.
- Slacken off the screws and remove the support. Transfer the markings to the new drier. Install the support.
- Slide in the rubber between the drier and the support.
- Finger tighten the clamp of the support.
- Transfer the pressure switch to the new receiver/drier.
- Lubricate the O-rings with compressor oil.
- Pressure switch tightening torques: 18 Nm.

Installation







- The receiver/drier must be filled with 20 cm cube oil when replaced.
- Lubricate the new O-rings with compressor oil.
- Install the receiver drier and the support and finger tighten the two nuts.
- Install the wiring:

Hint: Tightening torque for the pipe from the evaporator to the receiver drier: 10 Nm. Tightening torque for the pipe from the condenser to the receiver drier: 10 Nm.

- Tighten the receiver drier support, tightening torque: 10 Nm.
- Position the drier. Tighten the mounting bolt to 10 Nm.
- Connect the connector for the pressure switch.

Filling with refrigerant

- Vacuum pump according to Vacuum pumping.
- Fill the system with refrigerant according to Filling with refrigerant.
- Fill the system with fluorescent tracing agent according to Filling with fluorescent tracing agent.
- Leak trace according to Leak tracing electronic leak tracer or Leak tracing with fluorescent tracing agent and an UV lamp.
