Backrest upholstery

Special tools:
115 8962 CRIMP PLIERS 115 8962 Crimp Pliers

Removing the lower section of the backrest upholstery

Remove:
- Remove the seat from the car according to Lifting mechanical seats in and out Lifting Mechanical Seats In and Out.
Remove the seat from the car according to Lifting the power seat in and out Lifting the Power Seat In and Out.
- the backrest adjustment knob according to Backrest adjustment knob Backrest Adjustment Knob.





Power seat
Open the J-trim.





Mechanical seat
Fold the backrest or position the backrest in the forward folded position.
Slacken off tension in lumbar support.
Remove the five half moon clips at the bottom edge of the backrest.




Remove the upholstery at the lower edge of the protective pad.
Install, see Installation.

Removing the middle section of the backrest upholstery





Remove:
- lumbar support knob according to Lumber support adjustment knob, replacing Lumbar Support Adjustment Knob, Replacing.
- side piece, pull straight out.
- handle according to Backrest fold-down handle Backrest Fold-Down Handle.
- side piece, angle and pull down.
- the plastic sheet in the pocket inside the upholstery.
- Remove the upholstery to the first cross channel. Cut the two half moon clips on the long channel.




Release the two pieces of elastic on the inside of the rear of the backrest.
Install, see Installation.

Removing the upper section of the backrest upholstery





Remove:
- the head restraint according to Replacing the front seat head restraints Replacing the Front Seat Head Restraints.
- half moon clips on the inside of the rear of the backrest.
- the rest of the half moon clips on the front.
Pull off the backrest upholstery.

Installation





Install:
In reverse order.
Position and measure the upholstery before securing.
Use special pliers, P/N 115 8962 CRIMP PLIERS 115 8962 Crimp Pliers to secure the half moon clips

Note! When hooking the upholstery to the clips, ensure that the steel rod is not pulled up out of the foam padding. Also ensure that the steel rod in the upholstery does not bend too much. There is a risk of lasting deformation. This will result in loose and unattractive upholstery.
