Replacing seat assembly

Seat removal

Installing the SIPS airbag transport safety device





Caution! Seats with SIPS airbag must always have the transport safety device installed in order to avoid accidentally activating the system when working on the seat.

Install the SIPS airbag transport safety device as follows:
- Remove the side panel (A) by lifting the front edge and pressing to the rear.




- Remove the transport safety device from its holder on the inside of the control panel.
- Install the transport safety device on the sensor module.

Other preparations
Make a note of radio code if anti-theft coded radio is installed.
Remove:
- Battery negative lead.
- Head restraint
- Seat belt from the seat mounting (bolt on the side of the seat)

Removing




Remove:
- The panels (B) over the seat rails.
- 4 bolts (C) in the seat rails.
- The connector to the seat heater pad and control module (under seat).
- Lift seat straight up (locating pins at front and rear).

Installing seat

Reinstalling
Reinstall in reverse order.

Note! First tighten the rear inner mounting bolt. Then continue with both front mounting bolts and finally tighten the rear outer mounting bolt. If this is not done the seat may not be oriented correctly.

Tightening torques, seats/floorpan: 40 ± 10 Nm (30 ± 10 ft.lb)

SIPS airbag, removing the safety device
Remove the transport safety device from the sensor module and return it to its storage place on the inside of the control panel.
