Front



Anti-Roll Bar Front, Replacing

Special Tools: 999 5006, 999 5033, 999 5460

NOTE:
- On early version cars, the bushings and caps on the anti-roll bar can be replaced. On late versions the bushings and caps on the anti-roll bar are vulcanized into the bar and cannot be replaced.
- The late version replaces the early version of the anti-roll bar.







Install support rails 999 5033, mounting bracket 999 5006 and lifting hook 999 5460. Lift up the engine slightly







Remove:
- the splash guard under the engine (early type only)
- the five nuts holding the steering gear to the sub-frame.

Remove the screws for the oil pipe brackets from the sub-frame at the front and rear edges

Position a mobile jack at the rear edge of the sub-frame







Remove:
- on both sides, the four screws holding the subframe brackets to the bodywork
- the two screws together with the brackets and washers.

Slacken off the front screws in the sub-frame by 10 - 15 mm. Lower the rear edge of the subframe. Ensure that the steering gear screws release from the sub-frame







Remove:
- the anti-roll bar from the control arms
- the cap for the anti-roll bar
- the anti-roll bar.

NOTE: When replacing the anti-roll bar on cars up to the following chassis numbers: 4 door models 2099893, 5 door models 2011547, carry out the following procedure below.







- Remove the clip for the EVAP canister hose.
- Disconnect the EVAP canister hose at the joint. Cut off a piece of protective hose, P/N 185507-1, approximately 480 mm long. Thread it over the canister hose and reconnect the joint.

Installation

NOTE: Ensure that there is no exhaust leakage.







Install:
- the anti-roll bar
- the cap. Tighten to 50 Nm
- the links for the anti-roll bar. Tighten to 50 Nm.







Press up the rear edge of the sub-frame. Use a mobile jack
- At the same time align the mounting screws for the steering gear in the sub-frame.

Install the brackets for the sub-frame
- Install new screws (M14) for the sub-frame loosely. Transfer the mobile jack to the front edge of the frame. Replace the front screws for the subframe. Do not tighten yet.
- First tighten the screws on the left-hand side of the sub-frame. Tighten to 105 Nm. Angle tighten to 120 degrees. Then tighten the right-hand side to the same values as the left side.
- Tighten the bracket screws. Tighten to 50 Nm.







Tighten:
- the steering gear. Tighten to 50 Nm. Use new nuts
- the brackets for the oil pipes at the front and rear edges of the sub-frame.

Install the splashguard under the engine (early version)







Remove the lifting tools.
