Faulty Signal
Faulty signal. Permanent fault
Checking wiring and sensors
- Ignition off
- The control module for the steering wheel angle sensor disconnected
- Steering wheel module disconnected
- Connect the breakout box to the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor and to the steering wheel module.
Check the wiring between the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor
terminal #5 (terminal (#A29) and steering wheel module terminal #4 (terminal #A4)
terminal #12 (terminal (#A36) and steering wheel module terminal #13 (terminal #A13)
terminal #13 (terminal (#A37) and steering wheel module terminal #11 (terminal #A11)
terminal #14 (terminal (#A38) and steering wheel module terminal #18 (terminal #A18)
check for a short-circuit to each other.
Try replacing the steering wheel angle sensor if no faults are found in the wiring between the control module for the steering wheel angle sensor and the steering wheel module.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.
- Ignition off.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
- Read off steering wheel angle signal R1/R2/R3/R4.
- Turn the steering wheel slowly to full lock in both directions.
The value should change between OFF and ON.
