Checking Unlocking From Deadlock

Checking unlocking from deadlock

Selecting a door

Note! The fault-tracing assumes that unlocking / locking with the central locking system functions normally.

Which door does it apply to?
1. Front door
2. Rear door.

Select an alternative that corresponds to the above.

1 - Checking the front door

2 - Checking rear doors

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the front door
Check the control module connector terminal #B1 and the lock unit connector terminal #6. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check the intermediate cable. Check for an open-circuit.

Other information
- Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Checking the component

-------------------------------------------------

Checking rear doors
Which door does it apply to?
1. A rear door
2. Both the rear doors.

Select an alternative that corresponds to the above.

1 - Circuit test

2 - Circuit test

-------------------------------------------------

Circuit test
The fault indicates an open-circuit in the cable from (or in) the lock unit. To determine in which circuit the fault is:
Remove the deadlock relay (2/115).
Remove the lock unit connector. Check the connector for contact resistance and oxidation.

Other information
- To expose the integrated relay / fusebox in the cargo compartment, see Integrated relay/fuse box cargo compartment/rear electronic module, replacing Integrated Relay/Fusebox Cargo Compartment/Rear Electronic Module (REM), Replacing
- To expose the lock unit, see Replacing the switch for the lock unit / cargo compartment lighting Service and Repair
- Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Circuit test (cont.)

-------------------------------------------------

Circuit test (cont.)
Check the cable between terminal #8 the cable and connector and terminal #3 on the relay base. Check for an open-circuit. If a fault is detected, check in particular the 2 intermediate connectors in the cable harness. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.

No - Checking the component

-------------------------------------------------

Circuit test
Begin by replacing the relay for deadlocking (2/115) in the integrated relay / fusebox in the cargo compartment. Check the relay base switches. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.

Other information
- To expose the integrated relay / fusebox in the cargo compartment, see Integrated relay/fuse box cargo compartment/rear electronic module, replacing Integrated Relay/Fusebox Cargo Compartment/Rear Electronic Module (REM), Replacing
- Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Circuit test (cont.)

-------------------------------------------------

Circuit test (cont.)
- Remove relay 2/115.
Take resistance readings between terminal #4 of the relay base and ground. The ohmmeter should display a short-circuit.

Other information
- To expose the integrated relay / fusebox in the cargo compartment, see Integrated relay/fuse box cargo compartment/rear electronic module, replacing Integrated Relay/Fusebox Cargo Compartment/Rear Electronic Module (REM), Replacing.

Does the ohmmeter display a short-circuit?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Replacing the component

-------------------------------------------------

Replacing the component
Replace the control module according to Integrated relay/fuse box cargo compartment/rear electronic module, replacing Integrated Relay/Fusebox Cargo Compartment/Rear Electronic Module (REM), Replacing.

Continue - Fault Found

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the component
Measure the resistance between pins terminals #8 and #6 on the chassis switch lock unit.
The ohmmeter should read approximately 5 ohm.

Other information
- To remove the lock unit, see Replacing the switch for the lock unit / cargo compartment lighting Service and Repair
- For information about signals see Signal specification Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters.

Is the value correct?

Yes - Function test

No - Replacing the component

-------------------------------------------------

Function test
Check that the mechanical / electrical function of the lock unit is OK before the lock unit is reinstalled.

Is the function OK?

Yes - Fault Found

No - Replacing the component

-------------------------------------------------

Replacing the component
Replace the lock unit according to Replacing the switch for the lock unit / cargo compartment lighting Service and Repair.

Continue - Fault Found

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the component
Measure the resistance between pins terminals #7 and #6 on the chassis switch lock unit.
The ohmmeter should read approximately 5 ohm

Other information
- To remove the lock unit, see Replacing the switch for the lock unit / cargo compartment lighting Service and Repair
- For information about signals see Signal specification Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters.

Is the value correct?

Yes - Function test
