Replace the cable if a fault is found.
- Ignition on
- Try to operate the window lift mechanism to its limit positions (manually and automatically).
Other information:
- For further information about signals and other values, see Signal specification Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box
- To access the control module, see Driver's door module / passenger door module (DDM/PDM), replacing Driver's Door Module/Passenger Door Module (DDM/PDM), Replacing
- To access and replace the power window mechanism, see the relevant procedure.
- After checking all wiring and not finding any faults, pass a current across the motor and check that it operates.
Was a fault detected?
Yes - Fault Found
No - Checking the voltage
-------------------------------------------------
Replacing the component
Caution! A new control module is delivered without software. The control module must be programmed when it has been replaced. For further information about programming and replacing the control module, see Driver's door module / passenger door module (DDM/PDM), replacing Driver's Door Module/Passenger Door Module (DDM/PDM), Replacing.
After replacing the control module the window position must be initialized.
Move the window to its upper limit position using manual control.
Initialize the window.
From model year 2003 inclusive, the window will lower approximately 10 centimeters and then close again during initialization.
Continue - Fault Found
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the voltage
- Ignition on.
Activate the power window lift motor and take a reading across the motor. Voltage should be 12 V.
Other information:
- To access and replace the power window mechanism, See the relevant procedure.
Is the voltage 12V?
Yes - Replacing the component
No - Replacing the component
-------------------------------------------------
Replacing the component
Replace the window lift mechanism. See the relevant procedure.
Initialize the window position.
- Ignition on
- Move the window to its upper limit position using manual control
- Initialize the window
- From model year 2003 inclusive, the window will lower approximately 10 centimeters and then close again during initialization
- Try to operate the window lift mechanism to its limit positions (manually and automatically).
Does the window lift mechanism operate?
Yes - Fault Found
No - Fault-tracing information
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the window controls
Press the VCT2000 symbol. Read off to check that the automatic window control for up and down is functioning on the front door controls.
Hint: Automatic window control is achieved by moving the control two stages.
Do the controls function?
Yes - Initializing the window position
No - Replacing the component
-------------------------------------------------
Initializing the window position

Information
Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - FAULT-TRACING FAILED
No - Attempt New Test
