Checking sun roof

Checking the connectors




- Ignition off.
Check the upper electronic module (UEM), sun roof module (SRM) and wiring connectors (54/3R and 54/13). Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check for loose connections.
Check for damage carefully.
Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
Ignition on.
Operate the sun roof.

Do the sun roof controls operate?

Yes - Procedure complete

No - Checking components and wiring

Checking components and wiring
Check that main fuse (11A/2) in the relay / fusebox in the engine compartment is intact.
Check that fuse (11C/34) in the integrated relay / fusebox in the passenger compartment is intact.
Check the cable between sun roof module (SRM) terminal #1 and the battery. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the cable between sun roof control module terminal #10 and ground: Check the left A-post. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit.

The upper electronic module (UEM) and sun roof module (SRM)
Check the cable between upper electronic module (UEM) terminal #8 and sun roof module (SRM) terminal #6. Check for a short-circuit to ground.

Sun roof control module and roof lamp module
Check the cable between the sun roof module (SRM) terminal #2 and the roof lamp module terminal #4B. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the cable between the sun roof module (SRM) terminal #8 and the roof lamp module terminal #3B. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the cable between sun roof module (SRM) terminal #8 and roof lamp module terminal #3B. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the cable between sun roof module (SRM) terminal #2 and roof lamp module terminal #4B. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the cable between sun roof module (SRM) terminal #3 and roof lamp module terminal #2B. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the cable between sun roof module (SRM) terminal #7 and roof lamp module terminal #1B. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the cable between the sun roof module (SRM) terminal #9 and the roof lamp module terminal #9A. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.

Sun roof switch and roof lamp module
Check the wiring between sun roof switch and roof lamp module (RCM). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Remedy as necessary.

- With the ignition off, the voltage between control module terminal #1 and ground should be battery voltage

Visually check for damage to the roof lamp module and its switches.
Remedy as necessary.
If no fault is found replace the sun roof switch.
