Connecting the Test Box






Connecting the breakout box

Special tools:
951 1504 Adapter 120 pin 951 1504 Adapter 120 Pin

Removing the control module




- Wait 2 minutes after the ignition has been switched off. The main relay must be voltage freebeforethe control module is removed from the car. If the engine cooling fan (FC) runs on after the ignition has been switched off, wait until it stops and then wait for a further 2 minutes
- Remove the cover over the control module box. Put the cover to one side.

Note! Do not touch the control module terminal pins with your fingers. Static electricity may damage components in the control module.

- Insert tool999 5722 Wrench 999 5722 Wrench around the control module
- Move the upper section of the tool backwards as far as it will go. Pull up the tool
- Carefully pull up the control module.

Connecting the adapter




- Check that no pins or sockets are damaged on the connector
- Gently press adapter951 1504 Adapter 120 pin 951 1504 Adapter 120 Pin down into the grooves inside the control module box. Press to the limit position!
- Insert tool999 5722 Wrench 999 5722 Wrench around the adapter
- Move the upper section of the tool forwards as far as it will go. Pull the tool up.

Connecting the breakout box




- Check the control module and control module connectors to ensure that the male and female terminals are undamaged and secure (cannot be pressed in). Check that the cables to the female terminals are secured to the terminal pins
- Connect adapter951 1504 Adapter 120 pin 951 1504 Adapter 120 Pin to the control module connector (wiring side). Connect breakout box951 1428 Breakout box 951 1428 Breakout Box to the adapter via wiring951 1499 Cable 951 1499 Cable
- The breakout box is designed to facilitate reading off the control module input and output signals when the control module is connected; and the cable and component resistance when the control module is disconnected. The use of a breakout box reduces the risk of accidental short-circuits and damage to the connector pins.

Removing the adapter




- Wait 2 minutes after the ignition has been switched off. The main relay must be voltage freebeforeremoving the control module from the car. If the engine cooling fan (FC) runs on after the ignition has been switched off, wait until it stops and then wait for a further 2 minutes

- Insert tool999 5722 Wrench 999 5722 Wrench around the adapter
- Move the upper section of the tool backwards as far as it will go. Pull up the tool
- Carefully pull up the adapter.

Installing the control module




- Check that no pins or sockets are damaged on the connector
- Gently press the control module down into the grooves inside the control module box. Press to the limit position!
- Insert tool999 5722 Wrench 999 5722 Wrench around the control module
- Move the upper section of the tool forwards as far as it will go. Pull the tool up
- Press the cover into place over the control modules
- Check that the air ducts are correctly positioned.
