Checking parameters




- Ignition on.
Check visually whether the car is equipped with a passenger airbag. Read off the parameter "with or without passenger airbag" for the central electronic module (CEM) and for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and compare.
The central electronic module(CEM) responds "YES" if the passenger airbag is used in the car and "NO" if it is not.





Is the parameter "with or without passenger airbag" the same for the central electronic module (CEM) and the supplemental restraint system module (SRS)? Does the parameter correspond with what the car is equipped with?

Yes - Verification

No - Programming the control module

Try to reprogram:
- the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). See Supplemental restraint system module (SRS), replacing Service and Repair
- the central electronic module (CEM). See Central electronic module (CEM), replacing Central Electronic Module (CEM), Replacing.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.




- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead.

Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.

- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
The fault is no longer present if the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status is intermittent.
