Note! During installation the underlying surface must be kept at a temperature of at least +15˚C (59˚F). Do not wash the car within 48 hours after installation is completed. Allow the car to remain inside for at least two hours after installation is completed if outside temperature is less than +15˚C (59˚F). Steps 3-10 and 14-16 apply to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation in which the DIN cable must then be routed from the radio to the Sirius control module.

Preparations

- Move the left-hand front seat to its rear position.




- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- Remove the ignition key (does not apply to cars with automatic transmission).
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Note! Wait at least five minutes before disassembling the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.





Steps 3-10 apply to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation.
- Detach the panel (1) with the gear selector lever boot using a weatherstrip tool.




- Engage the handbrake and move the gear selector lever towards the rear.
- Pull the panel with gaiter rearward and turn as illustrated.
- Remove the screws from the dashboard environment panel.




- Angle the dashboard environment panel outwards so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers between the centre console and the reverse of the panel.
- Remove the dashboard environment panel. Pull it downward, maintaining the same angle. Some force is required because the panel is tightly installed.
- Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel. Place the dashboard environment panel to one side.

Note! If any of the outer hooks break off, these must be repaired. The method for this can be found in the Workshop Manual in the section about the dashboard.




- Remove the screws (1) in the radio console.
- Pull out the console with the radio. Pull the lower corner while pressing downwards.
- Disconnect the connectors on the radio and put the console with radio to the side.




- Move the left front seat to its rearmost position
- Remove the left-hand side panel (1) of the centre console by turning the screw clip and pulling the panel outwards/backwards.
- Remove the sill trim panel (2) at the left front door.




- Fold aside the carpet to provide access to the air ducts (1).




- Remove the seat cushion from the left rear seat (1) by lifting the front edge of the cushion and pulling forward.
- Remove the sill trim panel (2) at the left-hand rear door.




- Take the seat belts out of the guide (1) on the left-hand side bolster.
- Put your hand into the side of the lower section of the left-hand side bolster. Release the catch and lift the bolster at the same time. Place the bolster to one side.
- Fold the backrest forward.

Preparations, applies to all models




- Fold back the carpet.
- Remove the clips on the lower edge of the folding panel (on both the right-hand and left-hand sides) by pressing in the centre of the clip until an audible snap is heard.
- Remove the clips.
- Unscrew the front clips.




- Turn the knob (1) on the left-hand side through 90˚.
- Fold the panel inwards and remove it.
- Remove the two covers (2) and the underlying screws (3).
- First, pull the boot lid sill trim panel (4) forwards until the two clips on the right-hand and left-hand sides release. Pull forcefully but carefully since the panel is fitted tightly. Pull the panel straight up until the four clips in the lower edge release.
- Remove the wiring (5) for cargo compartment lighting.
- Lift out the sill trim panel.




- Remove the clips (1) and plastic nut from the left front side panel in the cargo compartment. The front upper clip is most easily removed from the rear seat side.
- Remove the front side panel.

Cable routing, steps 14-16, applies to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation.




- Take the DIN cable from the kit, lift up the floor carpet and route it underneath, up between the front air duct (1) and the strut (2) for the centre console.

Note! Make sure that it is the connector with a guide pin which points upward (see illustration), which is routed to the radio socket.

- Route the cable through the compartment for the radio.
- Clamp the cable in the strut (3), using the clamp from the kit.
- Route the cable on above and alongside the front air duct to the member (4) for the seat mounting.
- Clamp the cable at the existing cable harness (5).




- Continue to route the DIN cable under the carpet alongside the door sills to the rear seat.
- Fit protective caps on the lugs (1) of the cable ducts.




- Route the DIN cable (1) along the two cable ducts (2) under the insulation mat, and out through the hole in the body to the cargo compartment.
- Route the DIN cable under the four connectors in the front cable duct.

Installing the Sirius antenna. Applies to all models




- Wash the area on the roof around where the antenna and antenna cable shall be located using a mixture of washer fluid and water.
- Also wash the area around the left-hand hinge of the boot lid where the antenna cables shall be secured using a mixture of washer fluid and water.

Note! Thoroughly remove all dirt and grease.

- Wipe dry.




- Take the antenna from the kit
- Place the antenna to the back of the cleaned roof without removing the protective backing tape.
- The antenna must be located so that the end of the cable's rubber coated section exactly reaches the end of the roof.
- Measure from both sides of the roof to the antenna. The measurement must be approx. 525 mm (20 43/64").




- Hold the antenna to the roof and mark out around it with tape so that the correct position for it is marked.




- Enlist help from a colleague to sit inside the car and press against the headlining under the location for the antenna.
- Remove the protective backing tape from underneath the antenna and locate it within the tape markings.

Hint: The antenna can be moved carefully if it is not pressed down straight away. The tape must not make contact with the roof as the antenna has a rubber edge around the underside.

- Hold against the roof from the inside while the antenna is pressed in straight down with a force of 2-3 kg (4-6 lbf.) for several seconds.

Antenna cable routing. Applies to all models




- Remove the left-hand rear window moulding by pulling it straight down so that it detaches from the roof moulding.
- Following which, carefully pull it from the clips. Try out different angles and pushing the moulding up or down.

Note! If the clips are in the correct position then not too much force will be required to detach them.

- Remove the clips from the moulding and from the D-post. They shall be replaced with new ones.




- Remove the plastic moulding which is fitted around the upper edge of the rear window by pushing it straight back from the edge of the window. Pull away the moulding completely or so that it at least half is detached from the window.
- Secure the antenna cables inside the plastic moulding using butyl tape. Secure the cables at regular intervals so that the antenna cables cannot edge forwards when the car is washed.
- Press back the moulding with the cables remaining inside the plastic moulding's cavity.

Note! The cables must not be routed in the groove around the edge of the window.




- Route the antenna cables on down along the edge of the rear window and secure them with butyl tape under the protruding edge of the window.
- Continue down to the hinge of the boot lid.




- Pull the cable out at the rubber grommet (1)
- Cut the plastic clamp (2) and remove it from the rubber grommet.




- 25 Widen the rubber grommet using a screwdriver or expanding pliers and press through the antenna cables' connectors, one at a time.

- Pull the antenna cables in through the hole and into the cargo compartment.
- Reinstall the rubber grommet.
- Following which, tension the cables.
- Secure the cables as illustrated using cloth tape from the kit.

Hint: Securing the cables beside each other is facilitated with a little butyl tape and then by taping over them.

- Continue to tape the cables as illustrated.
- Tape down the cables almost up to the existing cable which enters the rubber grommet.




- Leave a little flexibility and then secure the antenna cables at the existing cable with several rounds of tape.
- Try to conceal the antenna cables under the existing cable.

Applies to cars with bracket in the car.
- Remove the DVD drive with bracket from the body by detaching the four screws.
- Cut away the cables' tie straps as necessary in order to remove the unit.

Applies when no bracket is in the car.
- Install the small bracket (1) for the CD changer bracket, onto the rear crossmember under the left-hand rear lamp. Use the screw (2) from the kit.





Applies to all models
- Install the Sirius unit in the bracket and secure it with three screws from the kit.

Note! Only 8 mm (5/16") long screws may be used. If longer screws are used then the unit may be damaged.




- Reinstall the bracket with the Sirius control module in the car and screw in its screws.
- Torque tighten to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).




- Take the cable (1) for power supply from the kit.
- Plug in the connector to the corresponding one on the Sirius unit.
- Connect the antenna cables (2) to the corresponding colour coded sockets on the Sirius unit.





Installation of the DIN cable. Applies to cars with RTI.
- Take the DIN cable (1) from the kit.
- Connect the end with the long/thicker round pins in the connector to the corresponding socket on the Sirius unit.
- Connect the other end of the DIN cable to the corresponding socket in the DVD drive. The DIN cable can only be connected in one way.





Connection of the DIN cable. Applies to cars with SAT preparation.
- Take the pre-routed SAT preparation connection which is taped in the vicinity of the left-hand rear lamp.
- Connect the SAT preparation cable DIN connector to the corresponding socket (1) in the Sirius control module.





Connection of the DIN cable. Applies to cars with CD changer.
- Detach the existing DIN cable (1) from the CD changer.
- Plug one of the new DIN cable's connectors with long/thicker round pins into the CD changer.
- Route both of the DIN cables on to the Sirius control module. Route them so that there is no risk of chafing or damage.
- Connect the DIN cables' connectors to the corresponding ones on the Sirius control module. The DIN cables can only be connected in one way.

Applies to cars with Digital Jukebox
- Separate the DIN connectors (1) on the cable to the jukebox from each other.

Applies to cars with Digital Jukebox
- Connect the short DIN cable (1) from the kit between the Sirius unit and the short DIN cable in the jukebox.
- Connect the long DIN cable (2) detached in the previous step to the remaining socket in the Sirius unit. Route the cables so that there is no risk of them being scraped off.

Connection of the DIN cable. Applies to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation.
- Connect the DIN cable routed on to the Sirius control module by plugging the connector with long/thicker round pins into the corresponding ones in the Sirius control module.

Connecting the power supply





Applies to all models
- Press in the catch on the rear brown connector in the cargo compartment fuse holder. Turn up the lock arm as far as possible and pull out the connector.




- Carefully pry apart the sides of the connector holder in the ends so that the connector can pass by the retaining hooks.
- Pull the connector out from the holder.




- Connect the blue/red (R/BL) cable with pin to position 27 in the connector.
- Reinstall the connector in the holder and reinstall the whole unit in the fuse holder.




- Fit a 5A fuse in position 17.




- Connect the routed ground lead to the grounding point (1) behind the battery and tighten the grounding screw securely.

Finishing work





Installing the clips on the D-post
- Take new clips from the kit.
- Install the clips in the designated locations on the D-post as illustrated.
- Adjust the clips vertically by using the diagonal groove in the clips.
- Install the clips centrally located.





Installing the trim moulding.
- Insert the D-post moulding in the roof moulding.
- Align the moulding in the clips.
- Press the moulding into place in the clips. Use the palm of your hand to press the moulding into place. Press on the clip locations not between them.





Adjusting the trim moulding vertically.
- Adjust the trim moulding so that it fits firmly against the body.
- The trim moulding can be adjusted vertically by pushing the clips up or down using a weatherstrip tool.
- If the clips are pushed up the distance between the moulding and the rear window is reduced.
- If the clips are pushed down the distance between the moulding and the rear window is increased.
- Check that there is no gap.

Applies to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation.
- Connect the new routed DIN cable to the radio.
- Plug in the other previously detached connectors to the radio.
- Refit the radio.
- Reinstall the panel and gear selector lever boot around the gear selector lever.
- Reposition the carpet at the left front seat.
- Refit the centre console's side panel.
- Reinstall the sill trim panel in the left-hand front and rear doors.
- Return the left front seat to an upright position.
- Reinstall the left front side panel in the cargo compartment.
- Reinstall the side bolster.
- Fold the backrest back into place.
- Reinstall the seat cushion.




- Turn the ignition key to position II.
- Reconnect the battery negative lead
- Install the new left-hand folding panel from the kit.
- Reposition the carpet in the cargo compartment.
