Upholstery back rest, replacing

Removal

Removing backrest

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Note! To carry out this work a zip fastener is required. This is not included in the upholstery but is ordered separately. 6 mm zip fastener part number: 3533976 is used and in some cases zip fastener 4 mm, part number: 9459316




Fold up the cushion.

Remove:
- the side cushion. See Side cushion Side Cushion. Disconnect the connector by the hinge
- screw mounting by the hinge
- the screw for the seatbelt end mounting.
Remove the strap(s) for the fold-down mechanism and seat belt buckles (hooked onto the lower edge of the backrest).
Lift out the backrest.

Removing the backrest upholstery (40%)

Remove:
- the lock side piece. See Lock side piece Lock Side Piece
- the end piece. See Side piece Side Piece
- the side piece from the cargo net. See The side piece for the cargo net Side Piece for the Cargo Net
Undo the Velcro seams on top of the backrest.
Undo the half moon clips (5) at the bottom of the backrest.

Hint: Note the position of the ring for the seat belt buckle fold-down mechanism.

Open the zip fastener at the side.

Remove:
- the clips (3) on the back of the backrest
- the staples by the backrest catch.
Remove the half moon clips (4) in the seams.
Remove the upholstery.

Removing the backrest upholstery (60%)

Remove:
- the lock side piece. See Lock side piece Lock Side Piece
- the end piece. See Side piece Side Piece
- the side piece from the cargo net. See The side piece for the cargo net Side Piece for the Cargo Net
- the armrest. See Upholstery, center armrest, replacing Upholstery, Center Armrest, Replacing.
Undo the Velcro seams on top of the backrest.
Undo the half moon clips (10) at the bottom of the backrest.

Hint: Note the position of the ring for the seat belt buckle fold-down mechanism.




Open the zip fastener at the side.

Remove:
- the clips (4) on the back of the backrest
- the staples by the backrest catch.
Remove the half moon clips (9) in the seams.

Hint: Press the wire to one side. Use a screwdriver.

Remove the upholstery.

Installation

Installing backrest upholstery
Put on the upholstery.

Install:
- the half moon clips in the seams

Hint: Start with the upper seam.

- the clips on the back of the backrest.
Close the zip fastener at the side
- the Velcro seams on top of the backrest
- half moon clips at the bottom of the backrest.

Installing the backrest





Hint: If both backrests have been removed, it is best to assemble 60% of the backrest first.

Install:
- the backrest
- the mounting screw for the hinge. Tighten to 50Nm
- the connector for the hinge
- mounting for the end of the seat belt. Tighten to 48 Nm
- the side cushion.
Fold down the cushion.
