Placement of Lamp Holder Holes
Placement of lamp holder holes
Note! All measurements in this method are given in millimeters (mm) with a tolerance of ±0.05 mmHandle the door carefully so as not to damage the surfaces surrounding the holes for the marker light.
Create a support piece
- Cut a rectangular piece of 1 mm sheet metal (1). The largest part of its surface should lie at the door, with approximately 10 mm sticking out.
- Make sure that no sharp edges lie against the door.
Mark 1
- Mark the center of the bore hole using a sliding caliper with precision ±0,05 mm.
- Make a few parallel markings using the clipped sheet metal as counterstay. This measurement is only applicable if the piece of metal lies at the door as in the illustration. The thickness of the sheet metal must be added. Therefore, the thickness of the piece of sheet metal must be measured extremely carefully.
- 1 = 35.37 (+ metal thickness).
- 2 = 20.73 (+ metal thickness).
- Mark the center of the bore hole using a sliding caliper with precision ±0,05 mm.

- 3 = 33.67 (+ metal thickness).
- 4 = 18.73 (+ metal thickness).
Mark 2
- Make a weak punch mark at A. Bear in mind that area A will be visible after painting.
- Mark the center of the bore hole using a sliding caliper with precision ±0,05 mm.
- R1 = 17.43
- R2 = 31.51
- R3 = 47.77
- R4 = 39.98.
Mark 3
- Check the measurements.
- A = 45.00
- B = 15.00
- C = 47.43
- The above must be maintained regardless of how the triangle lies within the rectangle.
- Even though the intersection points do not look like they do in reality, the principle and measurements do apply (The appearance of the intersection points originates from the rear door).
- Measure out and mark the outer contour lines in the final form.
- B1 = 3.00
- B2 = 4.50
- H1 = 3.00
- H2 = 12.30
- H3 = 20.30
- H4 = 31.70
- H5 = 35.20
- H6 = 48.00
Making holes
- Punch mark 1, 2, 3, 4.
- Drill with -3.
- Drill with -6.
- Even though the intersection points do not look like they do in reality, the principle does apply (The appearance of the intersection points originates from the rear door).
Making holes 2
- Use a little disc to cut a hole inside the marked area.
- The hole making principle applies even though a rear door could be hidden.
Making holes 3
Note! It is very important that you use a marker light to make sure that there is no play in the hole before filing out the marked borders. If too much material is filed away, the door must be replaced.
- File away the material so that the marker light can be fit without problem, but do not file away so much that it is loose.
- File sharp edges.
- The hole making principle applies even though a rear door could be hidden.
Supplementary work
Paint primer in the door as well as in and around the hole for the marker light after degreasing and roughening the surface in and around the hole.
