Drive Belt: Service and Repair
Auxiliaries belt / belt tensioner, replacing
Special tools:
951 2050 BEVEL PROTRACTOR 951 2050 Bevel Protractor
Preparation
Lift up the servo reservoir and place on top of the engine.
Note! Ensure that no oil leaks out of the ventilation hole in the cover.
Use a 15 mm wrench and turn clockwise as far as possible to relieve the load.
Lift off the belt.
Replacing the belt tensioner
Remove the mounting screws for the belt tensioner from the auxiliaries belt bracket.
Remove the belt tensioner.
Install new pulley. Tighten to 25 Nm.
Replacing auxiliaries belt
Raise the car and remove
- the right front wheel
- the plastic nuts from the cover in the fender liner
- the vibration damper. Use the crankshaft center nut as a counterhold
- the auxiliaries belt.
Install
- new auxiliaries belt
- the vibration damper. Tighten to 35 Nm. Angle-tighten 50°. Use the crankshaft center nut as a counterhold.
Use bevel protractor 951 2050 BEVEL PROTRACTOR 951 2050 Bevel Protractor
- the plastic nuts from the cover in the fender liner
- the wheel. See Installing wheels Service and Repair.
Finishing
Use a 15 mm wrench and turn clockwise as far as possible to relieve the load.
Install the belt in the following order:
- Crankshaft
- Air conditioning (A/C) compressor
- Belt tensioner
- Generator (GEN)
- Servo pump.
Install the servo reservoir.
Test the function.
