Checking the P-shift lock solenoid




- Ignition on
- Gear selector in position P.
Try moving the gear selector to another position without depressing the brake pedal. It should not be possible to move the gear selector.
Depress the brake pedal and try moving the gear selector to another position. It should now be possible to move the gear selector.

Was the function OK?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Checking the wiring and component

Checking the wiring and component
Check the cable between the control module for the gear selector and solenoid connectors. Check for an open-circuit, short-circuit to ground and a short-circuit to supply voltage.

Hint: The resistance must be 15 -25 ohms with an ohmmeter connected to the solenoid connector terminals #1 and #2 (solenoid side). Replace the solenoid if the resistance is incorrect

Remedy as necessary.
