SIPS airbag

Replacing SIPS bag

Remove:
- the seat from the car according to Lifting the front seats in and out Lifting the Front Seats In and Out
- the lumber support adjustment knob according to Lumber support adjustment knob, replacing Lumbar Support Adjustment Knob, Replacing.
- the side piece: Pull straight out.
- the backrest adjustment knob according to Backrest adjustment knob Backrest Adjustment Knob.




Fold the backrest or position the backrest in the forward folded position.
Slacken off tension in lumbar support.
Remove the five half moon clips at the bottom edge of the backrest.
Remove seat upholstery as far as the first lateral channel: two half moon clips from each front-rear channel.
Remove seat upholstery three half moon clips in the first lateral channel.
Remove upholstery one half moon clip per side of the front-rear channel up to the upper lateral channel.




Release two elastic attachments in the inside/rear side of the backrest.
Pull up the backrest upholstery.
Bend out and expose the protective pad on the side where the SIPS is located.




Remove the two screws holding the SIPS bag to the inside of the backrest frame.
Pull the SIPS bag downwards and bend it slightly forward.
Remove the bag.




Cut cable tie.




Cut two tie straps.
Release the wiring.
Replace the SIPS bag.

Install:
In reverse order.
The SIPS screws should be torqued to 6 Nm (4.43 lb.ft).
