Door loudspeaker noise, analyzing using a CD
Background
This Service Bulletin describes how noises caused by the door loudspeakers can be localized using a specially developed CD. A repair kit is recommended to eliminate the noise. The method for eliminating noise is not described in this Service Bulletin.

Method of testing 1
Close all the car doors and windows.
Adjust the radio so that the bass is set to maximum.
Treble, balance and fade must be set to normal.
Insert CD P/N 951 2935 into the CD player.
Play each track for approximately 15-20 seconds.
Note!
Listen from all seats in the car to localize the noise.
If necessary, also use the fade and balance feature to localize the noise.
Note where the noise is coming from. Note which track on the disc causes the noise.
Rectify the noise using the repair kit.
Verify that the noise is no longer present by playing the same track on the disc.
Reset the radio to the standard settings.
If there is no noise, continue the fault-tracing according to step 2.
Testing method, continued 2
Set the radio in the same way as in step 1. Carry out the same analysis for each door as in step 1 with:
1. The door open.
2. The door closed but with the window fully open.
3. The door open with the window fully open.
Note where the noise is coming from. Note which track on the disc causes the noise.
Rectify the noise using the repair kit.
Check that the noise is no longer present by playing the same track on the disc.
Reset the radio to the standard settings.
