Oil Weepage from Angle Gear Vent
NOTE:
This TNN supercedes service bulletin 46-008 dated 4-9-2002. 46-008 has been deleted from VEN / VRC2. Please update your files.
DESCRIPTION:
If oil weepage is found at the Angle Gear Vent, a new vent valve should be installed.
PARTS:
^ Filter, PN 30681138 (Quantity 1)
^ Brass Pipe, PN 8689527 (Quantity 1)
^ Metal Adhesive / Loctite 638, PN 1161722 (Quantity 0.1)
^ Gear Oil, PN 1161648 (Quantity 1)
SERVICE:
^ Remove the Angle Gear according to VADIS.
^ Remove the level plug and pour out the oil.
^ Pull out the brass vent pipe using cutting pliers.
^ Apply a small amount of metal adhesive to the outside of the new brass pipe.
^ Tap the pipe in, using a plastic hammer or rubber mallet. Install the filter on the pipe.
^ Position the angle gear so that it is standing as it would in the vehicle.
^ Fill the unit until the oil is level with the hole, then drain 0.1 Liters of oil. Install the level plug. Tighten to 35 Nm. Install the bevel gear according to VADIS.
