Checking the wires and components
If vehicle is equipped with RTI, disconnect RTI switch unit from audio/radio switch unit.
Do this to localise fault.
Make a note of the audio/telephone switch-unit button status.
If a button is activated and has not been pressed manually, the fault is in the RTI switch unit.
Disconnect lower connector from audio/radio switch unit. Do this to localise fault.
Make a note of the audio/telephone switch-unit button status.
If a button is activated and has not been pressed manually, the fault is in the audio/telephone switch unit.
Disconnect lower connector from cruise-control switch unit. Do this to localise fault.
Make a note of the audio/telephone switch-unit button status.
If a button is activated and has not been pressed manually, the fault is in the cruise-control switch unit or in the wire between the cruise-control switch unit and audio/telephone switch unit.
Do the necessary corrective action.

Check wires for short circuit to voltage supply between audio/telephone switch units 1, 2, 3 and cruise-control switch units 1, 2, 3, see Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Do the necessary corrective action.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.
- Ignition off.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
