INTRODUCTION

Note! During installation the underlying surface must be kept at a temperature of at least +15˚C (59˚F).Do not wash the car within 48 hours after installation is completed.Allow the car to remain inside for at least two hours after installation is completed if outside temperature is less than +15˚C (59˚F).Steps 3-10 and 15-18 apply to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation in which the DIN cable must then be routed from the radio to the Sirius control module.
Preparations
- Move the left-hand front seat to its rear position.
- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- Remove the ignition key. Only applies to cars with manual gearbox.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
Note! Wait at least five minutes before disassembling the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.
Steps 3-10 apply to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation.
- Detach the gear selector lever's cover panel with gaiter by carefully prizing it away with a plastic weatherstrip tool until the two clips release.
- Pull the panel up until the four clips at the sides have released.
- Engage the handbrake and move the gear selector lever towards the rear.
- Rotate the panel to the left for better access.
- Remove the two screws holding the bracket with the radio and dashboard environment panel in the centre console.
- Remove the console with dashboard environment panel and radio from the centre console by pulling the lower edge out and downwards until it releases from the mounting at the upper edge. Then fold it backwards. If necessary, the panel around the gear selector lever can be removed for additional space. The panel is secured with four catches on the underside along the gaiter.
Note! Do not damage the removed components or the surrounding panels.
- Unplug the connectors from the radio and dashboard environment panel, and if applicable, from the phone keypad.
- Place the unit to one side.
- Remove the left-hand side panel (1) of the centre console by turning the screw clip and pulling the panel outwards/backwards.
- Remove the sill trim panel (2) at the left-hand front door.
- Fold aside the carpet to provide access to the air ducts (1).
- Fold the left-hand rear seat cushion (1) and backrest (2) forward.
- Remove the left-hand side cushion by pulling the upper edge backwards and lifting it slightly upwards.
- Remove the sill trim panel at the left-hand rear door.
Applies to all models
- Remove the two floor hatches in the cargo compartment.
- Remove the storage compartment under the rear floor hatch by turning the clips on the right and left-hand sides 90°.
- Lift out the compartment.
- Remove the left-hand folding panel in the cargo compartment.
- Remove the left-hand front side panel. Remove the cover and the screw from the front edge.
- Pull the top edge of the panel out until the clips release.
- Fold the panel inwards. Lift the panel out.
Cable routing. Applies to cars without RTI and SAT preparation
- Saw off the protruding plastic flange on the left-hand floor support using a hacksaw as illustrated.
- Take the DIN cable from the kit, lift up the floor carpet and route it underneath, up between the front air duct (1) and the strut (2) for the centre console.
Note! Make sure that it is the connector with a guide pin which points upward (see illustration), which is routed to the radio socket.
- Route the cable through the compartment for the radio.
- Clamp the cable in the strut, using the clamp (3) from the kit.
- Route the cable on above and alongside the front air duct to the member (4) for the seat mounting.
- Clamp the cable at the existing cable harness (5).
- Continue to route the DIN cable under the carpet alongside the door sills to the rear seat.
- Fit protective caps on the lugs (1) of the cable ducts.
- Route the DIN cable (1) on the right-hand side of the air duct (2), under its cables, up to the wheel housing and then in to the position of the control module behind the left-hand passenger seat.
Note! Position the cable so that it does not get trapped or damaged.
Preparations, applies to all models
- Wash the area around where the antenna and antenna cable shall be located using a mixture of washer fluid and water.
Note! Thoroughly remove all dirt and grease.
- Wipe dry.
- Detach the ceiling light using a plastic weatherstrip tool and unscrew the screw beneath the lamp.
- Remove the roof panel by pulling it down until the clips detach.
- Detach the roof panel in the luggage compartment by pulling it straight down. Force is required to make the clips release.
- Fold composite paperboard, or use something else suitable, as counterhold between the headlining and the roof.
Installing the antenna
Check of play in boot lid before aerial installation
- Check that the play between the boot lid and roof is 3.9 ± 1.2 mm. The lid should be even with the roof.
- If play is correct, continue with aerial installation starting from step 25. If not, adjust play as described in step 24.
Adjusting boot lid play
- Slacken the three screws holding the boot lid hinge on both sides
- Adjust play to 3.9 ± 1.2 mm. Make sure that the boot lid is even with the roof.
- Tighten the screws to 25 Nm (18.5 lbf.ft).
- Take the antenna from the kit.
- Place the antenna to the back of the cleaned roof without removing the protective backing tape.
- The aerial should be positioned so that the end of the cable's rubber-clad part is 2 mm (5/64 ") from the roof end (inset image).
- Measure from both sides of the roof to the antenna. The measurement must be approx. 504 mm (19 27/32").
- Hold the antenna to the roof and mark out around it with tape so that the correct position for it is marked.
- Enlist help from a colleague to sit inside the car and press against the headlining under the location for the antenna.
- Remove the protective backing tape from underneath the antenna and locate it within the tape markings.
Hint: The antenna can be moved carefully if it is not pressed down straight away. The tape must not make contact with the roof as the antenna has a rubber edge around the underside.
- Hold against the roof from the inside while the antenna is pressed in straight down with a force of 2-3 kg (4-6 lbf.) for several seconds.
- Break away the perforated piece of mat (1) behind the left-hand passenger seat.
Detaching panels and lamps
Caution! Detach the D-post panel in the following order. Otherwise there is a risk that the panel is damaged.
- Grip the edge and pull inward so that the clips release (1).
- Detach the upper edge at the window so that the panel can pass the gas strut (2).
- Pull inward to make the clips in the opening release (3).
- Lift upwards.
- Remove the sill trim panel by unscrewing the screws and then pulling it straight up until the clips release.

- Detach the rear lamp's nuts.
Hint: Use a small piece of butyl tape in the socket so that the nuts do not fall when detached.
Detach the upper rear lamp first, by:
- detach the connector.
- remove the nuts (2 pcs).
- remove the rear lamp with end piece for the roof joint's cover moulding.
Detach the lower rear lamp by:
- remove the nuts (3 pcs).
- remove the lamp and detach the connector.

- Clean the area to which the antenna cables shall be taped using a mixture of washer fluid and water.
Note! Thoroughly remove all dirt and grease.
- Wipe dry.
Cable routing
- Detach the moulding carefully in the centre using a plastic weatherstrip tool. (The roof has a small dip which shows the centre).
- Route the antenna cables under the moulding and locate them beside each other so that they can be introduced correctly under the moulding.
- Route the cables fully and clamp the moulding back firmly when everything is located correctly.
- Take the cloth tape from the kit.
- Secure the two conductors from the antenna cable neatly beside each other as illustrated.
- Tape the two cables from the antenna side by side immediately under the sealing strip on the rear end face.
Note! The illustration shows taping using small strips of tape. Tape the cables with a long continuous strip of tape so that there is a better fit.
- Route the cables as neatly as possible above the hinge. Secure the cables with a small piece of butyl tape above the hinge.
- Continue to tape the cables on towards the D-post.
- Continue to route the cable and secure with tape along the left-hand D-post of the car so that it is concealed by the rear lamp when this is fitted.
Note! The illustration shows taping using small strips of tape. Tape the cables with a long continuous strip of tape so that there is a better fit.
- Tape on extra tape as joint protection where the antenna cable enters the car.
- Make a loop on the cable outside the hole so that water is not directed into the car.
- Press in the catch on the rear brown connector in the cargo compartment fuse holder. Turn up the lock arm as far as possible and pull out the connector.
- Carefully prise apart the sides of the connector holder in the ends so that the connector can pass by the retaining hooks.
- Pull the connector out from the holder.
- Take the cable harness from the kit. Connect the blue/red (R/BL) cable with pins to position 27 in the connector.
- Reinstall the connector in the holder and reinstall the whole unit in the fuse holder.
- Fit a 5A fuse in position 17.
- Route the cable with ground connection under the cargo compartment floor and onward along existing cables to the ground terminal (1).
- Unscrew the ground screw and fit the Sirius control module ground lead there together with any existing ground connections.
- Unscrew the left-hand load floor support bolts and remove the load floor support.
- Tape the cable so that it is protected along the floor under the load floor support.
- Route the end of the cable harness with connector alongside the antenna cable and secure with tape.
Installing the Sirius control module
- Take the Sirius control module and its bracket from the kit.
- Install the Sirius control module in the bracket with three screws (1) from the kit as illustrated.
Note! Only8 mm (5/16") long screws may be used. If longer screws are used then the unit may be damaged.
- Install the Sirius control module, first with the catches (1), and then angle it down.
- Secure the unit with a screw from the kit through the designated hole in the bracket (1). It fits in an existing threaded hole in the car.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (7.4 lbf.ft.).
- Connect the antenna's two connectors (1) to the corresponding ones on the Sirius control module. They are colour coded and only fit one way.
- Connect the green connector for the unit's power supply (2).
Connection of DIN cable
Steps 47-48 apply to cars with RTI
- Remove the two plastic plugs (1).
- Remove the insulation cover from the DVD drive.
- Remove the four screws holding the DVD drive in the bracket.
- Pull out the DVD drive.
- Take the short DIN cable.
- Connect the end with small terminals to the DVD drive.
Step 49 only applies to cars with a CD changer
- Detach the existing DIN cable from the CD changer.
- Plug the end of the new DIN cable with long/thicker round pins into the CD changer.
- Route both DIN cables under the wheel housing insulation and on to the Sirius control module. Route them so that there is no risk of chafing or damage.
- Connect the DIN cables' connectors to the corresponding ones on the Sirius control module.
Step 50 apply to cars with RTI
- Route the DIN cable from the DVD drive down along the existing cable harness and on under the wheel housing insulation. Route it so that there is no risk of chafing or damage.
- Connect the DIN cable's connector to the corresponding one on the Sirius control module.
Step 51 apply to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation.
- Connect the DIN cable routed to the Sirius control module. Connector with large terminals to the corresponding one on the Sirius control module.
Step 52 applies to cars with SAT preparation
- Detach the SAT preparation cable which is secured at the existing cable harness below the fuse box.
- Route the cable (as described in step 50) under the wheel housing insulation and on to the Sirius control module. Route it so that there is no risk of chafing or damage.
- Connect the end of the DIN cable with large terminals to the corresponding one on the Sirius control module.
Note! In cars with Digital Jukebox, detach its DIN cable and connect it to the Sirius control module. Following which, connect a DIN cable from the Sirius control module to the jukebox.
Finishing work
Applies to cars without RTI, CD changer, Digital Jukebox or SAT preparation
- Connect the DIN cable connector, and other connectors to the radio.
- Plug in the connectors for the dashboard environment panel.
- Plug in the connectors for the phone keypad, if applicable.
- Reinstall the unit with radio and dashboard environment panel in the centre console. Tighten with the two screws.
- Reinstall the panel around the gear selector lever
- Fold back the carpet.
- Reinstall the centre console side panel and the sill trim panels.
- Reinstall the side cushion in the rear seat.
- Fold back the rear seat and backrest.
- Turn the ignition key to position II.
- Reconnect the battery negative lead
Reinstall:
- the panels detached previously by repeating the steps for removal in reverse order.
Note! When installing the D-post panel it is important to reinstall it in reverse order. Fit it to the sill moulding and load anchorage.
