Bumper, front, replacing
Removing the front bumper and casing
Note! Cars built after week 0048 only have the two upper mounting elements on the bumper.
Remove:
- Wiper arms (1)
- Remove the two screws.
Use a 12 mm long socket.
- Remove the six clips on the upper side of the casing
- Remove the seven clips on the underneath of the bumper
- Drill out the four blind rivets from each side where the edge of the fender meets the wheel arch fender liner. The rivets must not be cut off. See Removing rivet
- Remove the screw.
- Slacken off one screw on each side (3), leaving each screw held in place by 3 threads
- Press the screw backwards so that the slide mounting releases
- Press the screw so that the screw head bottoms out
- Separate the connector for the fog lamp on the left-hand side.
- Pull the bumper forwards while pulling both the sides outwards so that the edges release from the slide mounting.
Hint: Two people are required for this task.
Installing the front bumper
Install:
In reverse order.
Note! Align the lugs (3) on the bumper in the channels (4) on the slide mounting.Press at the top so that the lugs secure.
