Diagnostic functions
General
Model year 1999 - 2002
The diagnostic system for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) continually runs diagnostics for the components in the SRS system and stores any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). However the two front seat belt buckles are diagnosed by the central electronic module (CEM), which also stores diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for these. If the fault persists for more than five minutes, the central electronic module (CEM) transmits the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to the supplemental restraint system module (SRS), which then stores the diagnostic trouble code(s) (DTC) for the front seat belt buckles. The diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can then be read off using the VADIS/VIDA. Information is presented in VADIS/VIDA in the same way as with other diagnostic systems.
Model year 2003 -
The diagnostic system for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) continually runs diagnostics for the components in the SRS system and stores any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). The diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can then be read off using the VADIS/VIDA. Information is presented in VADIS/VIDA in the same way as with other diagnostic systems. The front seat belt buckles are directly connected to the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
