Competence requirement
Volvo Level 1 Technician

Material

Front seat (mechanically operated), clearance

Preparations 1

Set the seat to its uppermost position using the height adjuster. Then lift out the seat according to the method in VADIS.

Note!
When adjusting the height adjuster, work on one side of the seat at a time.

Removing rivet, front height adjuster 2

Use backing paper or tape (1) to protect the seat rails from swarf as illustrated.

Use a center punch to mark the center of the rivet joint.

Pre-drill using a 15/64" drill bit.

Then drill off the rivet head using a 25/64" drill bit.

Note!
Ensure that only the rivet head is drilled off. Do not damage the height adjuster link.

Tap out the rivet through the hole. Use a drift.

Adjusting the height adjuster for the screwed joint 3

Separate the seat rail from the height adjuster. Only drill out the outer hole on the height adjuster link. Use a 5/16" drill bit.

Round off the hole in the height adjuster link after drilling.

Installing a new screwed joint 4

Install:

- the screw from the outside and

- the lock nut on the inside of the height adjuster

Tighten the screwed joint. Tighten to 24 Nm. Repeat the procedure on the other side of the front height adjuster on the front seat.

Finishing 5

Remove the backing paper or tape from the front seat. Reinstall the front seat in the vehicle according to the method in VADIS.

Test all the seat adjustment functions.

Carry out an additional function check of the front height adjuster for the front seat
