Fault-tracing information

Condition




The generator (GEN) has the task of supplying the power consuming components and battery with current. If the generator fails to charge the power consuming components will take their supply exclusively from the battery. In the end this will drain the battery completely.

Possible source
- Damaged generator (GEN).

Fault symptom[s]
- The battery discharges
- Low rotation speed in the starter motor
- The "Generator not charging" warning lamp does not light when the ignition is switched on
- The "Generator not charging" warning lamp is lit when the engine is running
- The headlamp bulb blows
- The electrolyte in the battery boils when the engine is running.
