Carburetor: Adjustments


CURB IDLE SPEED, ADJUST

1. Connect a suitable tachometer onto engine as per manufacturer's instructions.
2. Start and allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
3. Ensure all accessories are turned OFF.
4. Check idle speed. On exc. California models idle speed obtained should be 850 RPM and on California models idle speed obtained should be 900 RPM. If idle speed obtained is not as specified, turn idle speed adjusting screw until specified idle speed is obtained.

FAST IDLE SPEED, ADJUST

1. Connect a suitable tachometer onto engine as per manufacturer's instructions.
2. Start and allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
3. Disconnect and plug distributor vacuum advance hose.
4. Check fast idle speed. Fast idle speed obtained should be 3400 RPM.
5. If fast idle speed obtained is not as specified, turn fast idle speed adjusting screw until correct fast idle speed is obtained.
