SUBJECT: ENGINE IGNITION TIMING
VEHICLES: 1986 Yugo GV

GENERAL
INFORMATION: The initial timing of the Yugo GV has been set at the lower end of the 10~ specification. it should be checked and corrected as necessary on all vehicles during PDI and any subsequent, servicing.
SPECIFICATIONS: 10~ BTDC with a tolerance of + 1~.
SERVICE
INFORMATION: Ignition Timing Procedure
1. Clean the surface of the crankshaft pulley and place a mark on the degree line.
2. Disconnect the vacuum line at the distributor diaphragm and plug it.
3. Connect an ignition timing light and a tachometer.
4. Place the transmission in Neutral. Start the engine, and allow it to warm-up to normal operating temperature.
5. With the engine at 900 RPM or less, check the timing. If not within specification, loosen the distributor hold down nut, and adjust initial timing to specification by rotating the distributor to align the marks as shown. Tighten the hold down nut and recheck the timing.
6. Remove the plug from the distributor vacuum advance hose and reconnect to distributor.
