Fig. 8 Intake Air & Coolant Temperature Sensor Resistances:

1. Locate coolant temperature sensor in front of the distributor on the engine block.
2. Disconnect sensor electrical connector.
3. Measure resistance across sensor terminals. Readings should be as shown in Fig. 8, and should not deviate more than 10%.
4. Inspect sensor connector and wires to ECU terminals 13 and 6/1 for damage.
5. Connect one voltmeter lead to sensor terminal 2 and the other lead to ECU terminal 13 then 6/1. With ignition switch in Run position reading at each terminal should be 4.5-5.5 volts.
6. If reading is not as specified in step 5, check continuity from sensor terminal to ECU terminal 13 then 6/1. If wiring checks good, replace ECU.
