Fault Code 52, Tester Code 10

1. Measure exhaust gas CO content upstream of converter. If emissions are extremely high or low check the following:
a. Locate ECU behind passenger side of instrument panel.
b. Measure resistance between battery ground lead and ECU terminals 5, 8 and 16. Reading must be less than 1 ohm.
c. Check fuel pressure. Refer to ``Electric Fuel Pump'' section in this chapter for fuel system pressure check.
d. Inspect fuel injectors for contamination.
e. Inspect intake and exhaust manifold for leakage. If leakage occurs around lambda sensor, replace sensor seal.
f. Locate and remove lambda sensor from exhaust pipe. Inspect sensor for damage and/or combustion deposits and replace as needed.
g. Connect lambda sensor tester to sensor connector. Clear codes, then start and run engine until operating temperature is achieved. With engine at idle, sensor tester should read 450 mV.
