Fuel Pump Inoperative
Fig. 1 Bosch Motronic Electronic Engine Control System Terminal Identification:
Refer to Fig. 1 when performing the following test procedures.
1. While cranking engine check for 12 volts at fuel pump. If no voltage exists proceed as follows:
a. Inspect in-line fuse located near fuse box.
b. Locate inertia switch behind evaporative canister in left rear of engine compartment. Ensure white button on top of switch is in down position, then verify switch is closed by checking continuity at switch terminals.
c. Locate fuel pump relay at right hand rear of engine compartment near strut tower. Inspect pump relay terminal 87 and ground lead. Check for 12 volts at pump relay terminal 30. With engine running, check for ground from control unit terminal 20 to pump relay terminal 85. Replace relay and/or control unit as required.
d. Verify fuel pump winding resistance is 2.5-3.5 ohms. Replace fuel pump if resistance is not as specified.
