SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 83-22

DTC 83-22:

No Signal From the Outer Side Front Passenger's Weight Sensor

NOTE:

- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair and General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.

- These SWS DTCs are cleared by turning the ignition switch to LOCK(0).

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 83-22 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.�

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Disconnect the ODS unit harness 3P connector (A) from the outer side front passenger's weight sensor (B).






6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

7. Measure the voltage between ODS unit harness 3P connector terminal No. 1 and No. 3. There should be more than 6 V.





Is the voltage as specified?

YES -

Faulty outer side front passenger's weight sensor; replace the outer side front passenger's weight sensor Service and Repair, then clear the DTC.�

NO -

Open in the ODS unit harness; replace the ODS unit harness, then clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC is still present, replace the ODS unit ODS Unit Replacement.�
