DTC 9-3
DTC 9-3: Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch1. Check the connections at the driver's seat belt buckle switch 3P and driver's power seat wire harness 10P connectors, at the driver's power seat wire harness 10P and left side wire harness 10P connectors, at the left side wire harness 10P and driver's under-dash fuse/relay box 10P connectors, at the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box 18P and dashboard wire harness A 18P connectors, at the left side wire harness 18P and dashboard wire harness A 18P connectors, at the dashboard wire harness A 8P and SRS main harness 8P connectors and at the dashboard wire harness A 8P and SRS unit 8P connectors.
Are the connections OK?
YES - Go to step 2.
NO - Poor contact; reconnect the affected connector(s) securely.
2. Check that the driver's seat belt is unbuckled.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the seat belt reminder light comes on.
Does the seat belt reminder light come on?
YES - Go to step 8.
NO - Go to step 4.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check to see if the other indicator lights come on (SRS indicator, etc.)
Do the other indicator lights come on?
YES - Blown seat belt reminder light bulb or open in the wire between the gauge assembly and body ground; check the seat belt reminder light bulb. If the bulb is OK, refer to section 22 and continue troubleshooting.
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Check the No. 9 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES - Open in dashboard wire harness A; refer to section 22 and continue troubleshooting.
NO - Short to ground in the No. 9 (7.5 A) fuse circuit; refer to section 22 and continue troubleshooting.
8. Buckle the driver's seat belt, and check that the seat belt reminder light goes off.
Does the seat belt reminder light go off?
YES - Go to step 9.
NO - Short to ground or short to another wire between the gauge assembly and the driver's seat belt buckle switch; Refer section 22 and continue troubleshooting.
9. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
10. Unbuckle the driver's seat belt.
11. Erase the DTC memory.
12. Read the DTC.
Is DTC 9-3 indicated?
YES - Go to step 20.
NO - Go to step 13.
13. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
14. Disconnect the driver's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector.
15. Check resistance between the No. 3 and No. 1 terminal of the driver's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector, with the seat belt buckled. There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 16.
NO - Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch; replace the driver's seat belt buckle.
16. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness A 18P connector (A) from the left side wire harness 18P connector (B).
17. Check resistance between the No. 16 terminal of the left side wire harness 18P connector and the No. 1 terminal of the driver's power seat wire harness 3P connector. There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 18.
NO - Open in the left side wire harness or in the driver's power seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness.
18. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness A 8P connector (A) from the SRS main harness (B).
19. Check resistance between the No. 16 terminal of the dashboard wire harness A 18P connector and the No. 8 terminal of the dashboard wire harness A 8P connector. There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 26.
NO - Open in dashboard wire harness A; replace dashboard wire harness A.
20. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
21. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness A 18P connector (A) from the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box(B).
22. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness A 8P connector (A) from the SRS main harness (B).
23. Check resistance between the No. 7 terminal of the dashboard wire harness A 8P connector and the No. 12 terminal of the dashboard wire harness A 18P connector. There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Go to step 24.
NO - Open in the dashboard wire harness A; replace the dashboard wire harness A.
24. Disconnect the SRS main harness 8P connector (A) from the SRS unit(B).
25. Check resistance between the No. 7 terminal of the SRS main harness 8P connector (dashboard wire harness A side) and the No. 4 terminal of the SRS main harness 8P connector (SRS unit side). There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.
NO - Open in the SRS main harness; replace the SRS main harness.
26. Disconnect the SRS main harness 8P connector (A) from the SRS unit(B).
27. Check resistance between the No. 8 terminal of the SRS main harness 8P connector (dashboard wire harness side) and the No. 8 terminal of the SRS main harness 8P connector (SRS unit side). There should be 0 - 1.0 Ohm.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.
NO - Open in the SRS main harness; replace the SRS main harness.
